Wildlife Reserves Singapore (WRS) is a conservation-minded organisation that owns and operates the Singapore Zoo, Night Safari, River Safari and Jurong Bird Park, all of which are consistently rated among the world's best zoological parks. We are in the process of developing new attractions as we transform Mandai into a world-leading wildlife and nature destination, and expect to enter a phase of significant acceleration in revenue growth.


We have an ambitious growth plan targeting a multi-fold increase in revenue, and are looking for a performance driven and creative business leader to play a key role in shaping WRS’ retail strategies and driving execution for all retail efforts across the Mandai Precinct.


The incumbent shall provide strategic leadership to the merchandising and retail team and be responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of all retail activities to meet business objectives. The incumbent will also constantly lead efforts to maximise the profitability through the effective review and proportion of concessionaire, outright and product development. 


This is a key leadership position which requires a combination of strategic, out-of-the-box thinking, strong retail business acumen, the ability to plan and execute well, and the ability to communicate and collaborate across organisational boundaries.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

                 Define and manage the retail vision, business plan and retail strategy roadmap

                 Develop new and creative business opportunities to drive top-line growth and bottom-line profitability

                 Lead the team to drive creative merchandising and build high quality brand image

                 Drive effective management of all retail outlets, through sales, guests’ satisfaction and profitability

                 Make diagnosis based on performance analysis, consumer analytics, review of competencies and define dynamic annual action plans to achieve all revenue targets

                 Manage the implementation of action plans, monitor them regularly and amend modifications, where necessary

                 Develop policies and procedures that increase operational effectiveness and maximize long-term outlets performance

                 Identify and implement best practices and systems for guests’ experience, sales, and inventory management

                 Cultivate a positive, cohesive, and values-based culture that inspires and develops our commitment to excel while delivering superior guest experience

                 Determine KPIs for the department

                 Track and report KPIs progress on a regular basis

                 Develop and manage budgets, costs, projections, and profitability

                 Stay up to date with retail market trending


Job Requirements:

                 Degree in Business or related discipline, with at least 15 years of relevant experience

                 Creative, dynamic and entrepreneurial self-starter with high energy and infectious enthusiasm and optimism

                 Strong business acumen in retail, with good problem-solving and analytical ability, customer-centric orientation, and highly collaborative working style

                 Proactive in driving results, with strong ownership over outcomes, and proven ability to work under pressure whilst delivering superior outcomes

                 A growth mindset: track record of leveraging past learnings, encouraging new ideas and smart risk-taking in self and others

                 Excellent interpersonal skills with strong stakeholder management ability

                 Strong track record of leadership skills and achievements, with proven ability to drive team engagement, cohesiveness and corporate achievements

                 Strong customer service skills, willing and able to provide hands-on supervision and coaching
