The IUCN SSC Asian Species Action Partnership (ASAP) is the largest coalition of organisations working to save some of Southeast Asia’s most threatened species from extinction. ASAP works to catalyse conservation for Critically Endangered land and freshwater vertebrate species found in Southeast Asia through strong partnerships and bespoke support. By building connections and increasing visibility, ASAP supports its Partners to deliver vital conservation work in a region that, without urgent intervention, will lose much of its unique and rich biodiversity.

Job Purpose:

We are seeking a self-driven and motivated individual to support the ASAP Partnership. The position will support the implementation of the 5-year ASAP Strategy which identifies 4 key areas of intervention:

·       Create an enabling environment to catalyse effective conservation action for ASAP species;

·       Increase financial resources available for conservation of ASAP species;

·       Strengthen regional conservation capacity and leadership for ASAP species conservation;

·       Raise the profile of ASAP species to promote their conservation.

This is an early career position. The successful candidate will be part of the ASAP Secretariat, reporting to the Partnerships and Communications Manager.


Main Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will support the ASAP Secretariat in the implementation of the ASAP strategy and with administrative support, with tasks including:



·       Support the management of the ASAP website by adding content such as new ASAP species after every IUCN Red List update; adding new ASAP Partners, creating and updating their profiles; conducting regular checks for broken links on the website to ensure content is up to date.

·       Support with social media, by helping to develop monthly plans; searching for and formatting images and writing their captions; working with Partners to arrange social media account ‘takeovers’.

·       Manage ASAP communications and resource library including photos, videos and communication materials produced, and ensuring photos are tagged according to the set system.

·       Expand ASAP’s resource library by seeking photos of ASAP species that ASAP does not currently have and securing the relevant permissions for use.

·       Support in readying materials for publication, for example by proofreading and formatting materials.



·       Manage the new Partner application process.

·       Manage the funding and training opportunity database: check for new deadlines on a regular basis and conduct online searches for new opportunities.

·       Compile the quarterly funding and training opportunities document for Partners, to be distributed via the ASAP website, ASAP newsletter and online forum.

·       Manage the Partner database: update new contact details, and ensure alignment between the Partner database and the website.

·       Integrate information gathered through surveys to the Partner database.

·       Support the development and management of webinars and other Partner engagement events.



·       Take minutes at meetings as needed.

·       Manage updates to the ASAP species database, add new species and conduct a review of the species information on an annual basis.

·       Support the administration of the ASAP grant programmes.

·       Support the organisation and administration of ASAP training opportunities.

·       Other tasks as required.



Minimum 2 years professional office experience with relevant skills as outlined below. The individual must be passionate about conservation. Qualifications or experience in communications, website management and/or design are desirable. Excellent spoken and written English essential.

·       Highly organised, with good attention to detail

·       Demonstrable experience of prioritising and managing work time

·       Track record of working as a team member with excellent interpersonal skills in a multicultural environment

·       Ability to take the initiative and work independently, creatively and with flexibility

·       Fluency in written and spoken English is essential; fluency in any Southeast Asia language is an advantage

·       Ability to work in MS Windows environment (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook).

·       Familiarity with website management programs and social media tools; design and aesthetic capacities are advantages

·       Experience developing and / or managing databases (for example Salesforce) is an advantage
